Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (19/04/2021).

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno has expressed optimism that vaccination program for creative economy actors will boost productivity and rebuild creative economy sector.

“(The vaccination) is expected to boost spirit and motivation of this sector in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic,” Sandiaga Uno said Monday (19/04/2021) after accompanying President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at mass vaccination event for artist and cultural practitioners at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Central Jakarta.

In addition to vaccination, Sandiaga added, observing health protocols by doing 3M (wearing mask, washing hands, keeping social distance) and continuing 3T (tracing, test, treatment) measure are also important to tackle the pandemic.

According to Sandiaga, there are 18-20 million people in creative economy sector in Indonesia in seventeen different sub-sectors.

Three main sub-sectors are culinary, fashion, and handicraft.

The contribution of creative economy sector to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product, he added, is the third world’s highest in the world – after the United States of America and South Korea.

“We hope that the contribution of Rp1.100 trillion from creative economy sector can be at least maintained at the same point and there will be an opportunity to rebound and recover. Therefore, I would like to express my appreciation for the participation of artists and cultural practitioners in vaccination,” Sandiaga said. (TGH/UN) (AP/EP)
