VP Ma’ruf Amin Calls on MRP, DPRP, and Regional Govts to Collaborate for Papua’s Welfare
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between all stakeholders to accelerate the improvement of Papuan people’s welfare.
It was mentioned by the Vice President during the meeting with House of Representatives of Papua (DPRP), Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP), and Provincial Government of Papua that discussed the implementation of Papua’s special autonomy, in the State Finance Building, Jayapura city, Papua province, on Tuesday (11/29).
“I call on all stakeholders to strengthen synchronization, harmonization, and coordination frameworks at central, provincial, and regency/city levels, including to optimize partnership with related parties,” Vice President K. H. Ma’ruf Amin said when discussing Papua’s special autonomy.
In the meeting, the Vice President also expressed his appreciation to the regional government, MRP, and DPRP that have managed the development of Papua’s special autonomy.
“I appreciate Papua’s Regional Government, DPRP, and MRP that have managed special autonomy with all the dynamics that follow. I also hope that the joint performance can be improved in the future,” he said.
On developing new autonomy regions (DOB), the Vice President elaborated that the new provinces will be a game changer that is hoped to enhance the development and public service quality in Papua.
“The establishment of new provinces should be regarded as a game changer that will transform the development design and public services to reach out closer to the grass roots,” he explained.
Vice President also called on all related elements to cooperate optimally to improve the welfare of Papuan people.
“Let us reaffirm our intention that we want to start building Papua with a new spirit, a new determination, and a new design that will bring optimal result for Papua,” he stated.
After the meeting, the Vice President who is also the Chairperson of Papua Board of Advisors (BPP) hit a tifa (a Papuan percussion instrument) and cut the ribbon which indicated the inauguration of BPP Secretariat Office located at the 5th floor of State Finance Building, Jayapura city,
Attending the meeting were Vice Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo, Regional Secretary of Papua Province Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, Commander of the XVII/Cendrawasih Military Command Major General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa, Chairperson of MRP Timotius Murib, Chairperson of DPRP Johny Banua Rouw, and Regional Leaders Coordination Forum of Papua Province (Forkopimda).
