Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 82 of 2021 on Islamic Boarding Schools Funding shows the Government’s commitment to education, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has stated.

“It shows a strong commitment from the Government to support education at all levels. We have education endowment fund managed by Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Finance, and we also have Islamic boarding schools endowment fund, cultural sector endowment fund, and research endowment fund,” the Vice President said on Thursday (16/09).

The Vice President added that Islamic boarding schools across the country welcome the signing of the Presidential Regulation.

Regarding the budget, the budgeting process is currently being carried out and the funding model will not be different from the existing education fund.

“The budget will be recalculated later, but I think it will not be different from the existing funding model. The State Budget will provide funding and the funds will be put in investment instruments. The investment yield will be used for education sector,” the Vice President said.

In the meantime, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim said that the budgeting for Islamic boarding schools endowment fund would be the same as that of education endowment.
