President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (6/26), inaugurated in a hybrid setting the operation and construction of renewable energy projects in 15 provinces, increased oil production by 30 thousand barrels from the Cepu Oil Block, and groundbreaking of five geothermal power plants (PLTP). On the occasion, President Prabowo directly talked with stakeholders from various regions in Indonesia who participated via video conference.

The President emphasized that electricity in every village is a real proof of the state’s presence that should be received by all Indonesian people. “I am so glad to see that you have access to electricity now. We will continue to do this throughout Indonesia. We ensure that every village must be electrified. And we, Indonesia, will be self-sufficient in energy,” said the President.

Previously, President Prabowo received direct reports from various regions. One of them was from Lipang Island, Sangihe Islands regency, North Sulawesi province, who expressed gratitude because their village has been connected to electricity. “Before electricity reaches our village, we face limitations in every area. But after the supply of electricity, our fishermen can store their catch. Our children can study at night. This also affects our health condition and we can use technology,” he said.

Meanwhile, from South Papua province, Mappi Regent Kristosimus Yohanes Agawemu reported on the use of Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in two villages, serving around 147 families. He also expressed his hope that other villages can also be electrified soon.

Responding to this, President Prabowo ensured that the Government would electrify all villages throughout Indonesia as soon as possible. “That is my promise as the Indonesian President and we can do it, all villages will be powered,” said the President.

From West Java province, Sukabumi Regent Asep Japar conveyed the contribution of Star Energy Geothermal Salak in supplying 444.2 MW of electricity which is capable of serving around 495 thousand homes. In addition to providing a fiscal impact to the region, the project also improves the welfare of the community.

“This program is very helpful in improving the quality of life of the community in our surrounding areas,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
