Village Funds Ready to be Distributed to 69,661 Villages

As of 11 July 2021, out of the total of Rp72 trillion of village funds, Rp28.82 trillion or 40.02 percent has been distributed, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar has said.

“The village funds have been distributed to 69,661 villages or 92.93 percent of the 75,961 villages in Indonesia,” the Minister said as quoted from the official website of Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, Friday (16/07).

Out of the total amount of the distributed funds, the Minister added, Rp4 trillion or 13.88 percent has been set aside for COVID-19 responsive villages used to build COVID-19 responsive village volunteer posts in 30,420 villages, village gate posts in 24,283 villages, and isolation posts in 20,058 villages.

“(The funds are also used for) other programs, such as information dissemination, provision of facemasks and handwashing stations, and vulnerable persons registry,” he said, adding that direct cash assistance allocated from the village funds (village fund direct cash assistance) took up Rp5.67 trillion or 19.53 percent of the village fund distribution,

“Meanwhile, Rp2.2 trillion, or 7.69 percent of the village funds liquidation, has been allocated for village cash for workforce (PKTD) and Rp16.97 trillion, or 58.90 percent of the village funds distribution, has been set aside for village development outside the PKTD scheme,” he said.

According to the Minister, there are 852,753 workers registered for the PKTD program with 372,046 of them coming from impoverished families.

“Out of the number of workers, 66,866 workers are female and 28,209 of whom are female heads of family,” he said, adding that groups of COVID-19 Responsive Village Volunteers have been established in 35,563 villages with a total of 1,084,519 volunteers.

The Minister pointed out that as of 11 July, 342,688 people in villages have been infected by the virus and 278,232 people have recovered. “54,755 people are hospitalized and 3,831 have died,” he said.

The Minister urged everyone in villages to remain disciplined in observing health protocols and to abide by government regulations to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.

“Always wear a face mask, wash hands with soap and flowing water or hand sanitizer, maintain a safe distance, and avoid crowds, and if possible, avoid dining together,” he remarked. (PR of Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration) (DH/EP)
