The Presidential Palace confirms that a viral message on social media about President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo’s speech telling that there are security threats from a number of groups due to the result of Jakarta’s Regional Election in 2017 is hoax.

The message claims that the President delivers the speech at Senayan Stadium before one hundred thousand people to respond lots of demonstrations after Jakarta’s Regional Election.<>

For the record, President Jokowi never attends this event and also never delivers the speech attached on the viral message. This message is spread by irresponsible people.

In many occasions, the President always asks all to stop the spread of hoax news or incitement containing slander and hatred.

“Let’s stop the spread of hoax news or incitement containing slander and hatred on social media. Let’s show the values of decency and propriety because these are part of Indonesia’s culture,” the President said at the Merdeka Palace on 8 June 2017, as quoted in a press release of the Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media, Secretariat of the President, Bey Machmudin.
