Vocational School is Key to Indonesia’s Advancement, President Jokowi Says
Vocational school (SMK) plays an important role in Indonesia’s advancement, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“The curriculum at vocational school should include 60% – 70% practice so that on-the-job training placement is vital,” said the President during his visit at state agricultural vocational school SMK PPN 1 South Kualuh in North Labuhanbatu regency, North Sumatra province, on Wednesday (05/17).
On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his hope that agricultural vocational school students can do their best in their study.
During the visit, President Jokowi noticed that the seedlings for palm tree at the location are already of good quality, but the nursery facilities need improvement so that the students could directly observe the process of proper farming.
In addition to agricultural practice facilities, the President will also help improve the livestock farming practice facilities at the location, while underscoring that he will also provide a number of livestocks such as lamb, goat, chicken, and duck to SMK PPN 1 South Kualuh for educational purposes.
