The Government, employers, and laborers need to collaborate and renew commitment to strengthening Indonesian workforces’ readiness to overcome the impact of crises and to deal with the world of work in the future, according to Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

“We have a big vision to realize an advanced Indonesia. Workforce productivity, capacity, and capability, as well as adaptability and resilience are critical to achieve the vision,” the Vice President stated during the Commemoration of the 67th Anniversary of Confederation of Indonesian Muslim Labor Unions (K-Sarbumusi), at Graha Mahar Agung Tulangan, Sidoarjo, East Java province, Friday (09/30).

According to the Vice President, the new world of work also requires recovery efforts that are worker-centere carried out by paying attention to the rights, the needs, and the aspirations of workers.

“This is in line with the mandate of the International Labor Organization’s 100-Year Declaration,” he said.

On that occasion, the Vice President also underscored that social dialogue remains the most effective mechanism in conveying inputs to formulate policies in response to challenges in the employment sector.

“In 2021, a study conducted by the ILO in 133 countries showed that trade unions collaborate with government and employers through social dialogues to formulate national and international policies in strengthening workers’ capacities when a crisis hits or in formulating long-term strategies to overcome the impact of crisis,” he remarked.
