VP Ma’ruf Amin Hands Over Social Assistance to Communities in S. Kalimantan
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Thursday (10/13) handed over social assistance to beneficiaries at the Budi Luhur Social Rehabilitation Assistance Center in South Kalimantan provincial city of Banjarbaru.
“It is part of the Government’s commitment to providing social protection to low-income communities. The Government is also committed to providing assistance and empowering the beneficiaries. We empower [the people] to reduce and eliminate poverty,” he said.
The Vice President also pointed out that the world is full of uncertainty and is facing the threat of food crisis, energy crisis, and financial crisis that will result in higher commodity prices.
“It can also affect the socio-economic situation of communities. The Government will continue to take measures to overcome it,” the Vice President said.
For the record, the social assistance provided to the beneficiaries in the Budi Luhur Center comprises cash assistance, school equipment, as well as assistance for grocery and snack businesses.
The total social assistance was Rp1.97 billion.
The Budi Luhur Center is one of the units under the coordination of Ministry of Social Affairs’ Directorate of Social Rehabilitation. The Budi Luhur Center provides multi-service programs, one of which is rehabilitation for the beneficiaries. (BPMI of Vice Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/EP)
