To conclude his working visit in Aceh province, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Thursday (04/14) distributed social assistance to the people at Darussa’adah Social Rehabilitation Workshop for Children in Need of Special Protection (LRSAMPK) in Aceh Besar regency.

The assistance provided includes the Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) for cooking oil, the Family Hope Program (PKH), the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), and the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI), all of which programs of Ministry of Social Affairs.

The assistance, the Vice President added, is part of the Government’s measures to ease the burden of the people affected by price fluctuation following global economic situation and climate change.

“Everyone all over the world is affected, including us in Indonesia. Therefore, the Government plays its role to provide social protection for low-income households,” Ma’ruf Amin said, adding that prices of commodities, especially prices of staple foods, are expected to increase ahead of Eid Al-Fitr.

“We will take measures to bring prices under control,” he said, adding that the social assistance aims to provide cushion against the impacts of the price fluctuation.

“That is what the Government has been doing to bring the price under control so the impacts won’t be too severe,” he remarked. (BPMI of Vice Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/EP)
