Vice President (VP) Ma’ruf Amin and Ibu Wury Ma’ruf Amin on Thursday (09/14) departed to People’s Republic of China (PRC) to conduct a series of working visit.

VP’s spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi in his statement before the departure said that the VP will visit Fuzhou City, Nanning, and Shanghai for the next few days. In Fuzhou, Fujian province, he is slated to conduct several work agendas, including a meeting with Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee/Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Congress Zhou Zuyi. This is a reciprocal meeting of Zhou Zuyi’s previous visit to Indonesia in May.

“The Vice President has welcomed the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party for Fujian province during their visit to Jakarta. This time the Vice President will go there as a reciprocal visit,” he stated.

Additionally, the VP will also meet several Fujian entrepreneurs engaged in the halal food sector, such as seafood, beverages, and frozen food supply.

“It is highly essential because Indonesia aspires to become the world’s largest supplier of halal goods. So far, Indonesia has only been a consumer, and later as a producer. This is the reason the Vice President meets with the entrepreneurs engaged in halal goods in Fujian Province,” Masduki added.

In Nanning City, Guangxi Autonomous Region, the VP will conduct a courtesy call with the Premier of PRC Li Qiang and meet the Governor of the Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lan Tianli. He is also slated to attend the opening of the 2023 China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the 20th China-ASEAN Business Investment Summit at Osmanthus Hall, Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC).

“It is a gathering of entrepreneurs from both ASEAN countries and China. The expo is expected to establish many agreements between Chinese entrepreneurs and Indonesian entrepreneurs,” Masduki further stated.

The VP is also slated to deliver a speech in front of several delegates and businessmen from ASEAN countries and PRC.

“The substance of this speech is related to ASEAN’s relationship, especially Indonesia’s with China, in business,” he explained.

After attending and delivering speech on the opening of CAEXPO 2023, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin will visit and inaugurate the opening of City of Charms of Indonesia Pavilion at Pavilion B2 and Indonesian Commodities Pavilion at Pavilion D15, NCEC. Premier Li Qiang is also slated to attend the occasion.

“The Indonesian Government is opening a pavilion at the expo. So, there will be a kind of Indonesian City of Charms Pavilion, hopefully it will be successful. The Vice President will attend and declare the opening of the event at the pavilion,” he said.

Closing the series of event in Nanning on Sunday afternoon, VP Ma’ruf Amin is scheduled to be present at a joint interview with Chinese Media, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangxi Daily, Guangxi Radio and Television, Nanning Daily, and Nanning Radio and Television.

Afterwards, the VP will continue to Shanghai to visit the Representative Office of Food Research Institute, medicines, and cosmetics (LPPOM) of Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in Shanghai Al Amin Co. Ltd on Kangxin Rd. Pudong, Shanghai. The VP is expected to hold a meeting with the staff of LPPOM MUI and the officials of Shanghai Al Amin Co. Ltd.

In Shanghai, he is also scheduled to receive the honorary visit of Shanghai Regional Government and have a meeting with the Shanghai entrepreneurs engaged in halal sectors.

“The Vice President is slated to meet several entrepreneurs engaging in halal industry, who have been actively cooperating with LPPOM MUI. Alhamdulillah, so far they are very active and based on our colleagues in LPPOM MUI, the scale of the business is huge and getting larger,” Masduki stated, adding that the VP plans to invite them to not only do business and invest in China, but also in Indonesia

“The Vice President expressed hope for them to invest in Indonesia. Thus, the goal as mentioned earlier, for Indonesia to be the largest halal nation in the world, can be achieved,” he uttered.

Closing his working visit in PRC, the VP is scheduled to attend the Nationality Dialogue with several Indonesian diaspora in Shanghai. He is expected to head back to Indonesia on September 19, 2023. (BPMI of Vice-President Secretariat/UN) (SI/EST
