The 16th National Para Games (Peparnas) in Papua Province is an event to break boundaries and to emerge as the winner, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has said.

“The Peparnas is more than just a sports competition, but is also proof of the spirit of equality for all of us,” the Vice President said Friday (05/11) during the Opening of the Peparnas at Mandala Stadium in Papua provincial capital of Jayapura.

The Peparnas, he added, is also a form of the Government’s commitment in providing equal treatment for every citizen.

“Let us celebrate this equality in the spirit of brotherhood among Indonesian people as reflected by the motto of one heart to achieve the goal and create achievements,” he said.

The Vice President also expressed belief that the organizing of the Peparnas would be as successful as the 20th National Games (PON) held also in Papua earlier in October.

“I am sure the Peparnas will be as successful because the Papuan people are sports lovers and are warm hosts. This success will once again be recorded in history and will always be remembered in the hearts of all Indonesian people,” he said, while expressing his appreciation to Governor of Papua along with all levels of the Papuan regional government as well as the Peparnas Grand Committee (PB).

“Despite many challenges, with hard works and supports from all the Papuan people, whom I love. The Papuan people I love dearly have been successful in preparing the venue for the competition and supporting facilities in accordance with the standards of the National Para Games competition,” he said, adding that he also extended his appreciation to everyone who has given their support to organize the event.

“I would like to express my appreciation to Minister of Youth and Sports, Ministers of the Indonesian Onward Cabinet, Governors, Chairperson of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) along with all levels of its management, and everyone who have made their efforts to help the PB to prepare the organizing of the Peparnas,” he stated.

The Vice President also extended his gratitude and appreciation to all teams from across Indonesia who will compete in the competition.

“You are an inspiration and energy for fellow Indonesian citizens. You are torches that ignite the spirit to make achievements and to never give up. Inspire them the soul that is never afraid of failure. Success awaits you all. You must be able to do what others can do. Attain achievements that exceed your goals. Obstacles should not prevent you from reaching your achievement,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (FI/EP)
