VP Ma’ruf Amin Off to the UAE for Working Visit

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin on Tuesday (11/01), with his spouse Ibu Wury Ma’ruf Amin left for the Middle East for a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt.

The Vice President took off from Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang city, Banten province to Abu Dhabi International Airport, UAE using The Garuda Airbus 330 aircraft expected to arrive at 15:20 local time.

On Wednesday (11/02), the Vice President will meet with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) in Abu Dhabi. The two leaders will meet at the Al Shatie Palace to discuss a number of bilateral strategic issues.

In addition, the Vice President will meet with the President and Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace (ADFP) before delivering a speech at the 9th ADFP Meeting.

“The Vice President will attend an international seminar on peace forums in Abu Dhabi. Various countries were represented,” said Masduki Baidlowi, vice president’s spokesman.

Masduki continued, the Vice President will speak about inter-religious harmony in the country at the event.

“The Vice President will share important experiences of Indonesia, which has been able to manage good inter-religious relations, and this will serve as an example of how Indonesia can have religious harmony and how Muslims as the majority population in Indonesia respect the rights of the minority and have the same rights as the minority,” Masduki said.

In addition to Abu Dhabi, the Vice President will carry out activities in Dubai. He is scheduled to meet with Dubai Holding representatives at the Raffles Hotel on Thursday (11/03).

Furthermore, the Vice President is slated to meet with representatives of the Global Islamic Index Publishing Institute at the same location.

“The Vice President will meet several important officials in Dubai to discuss the possible cooperation between the Indonesian Government and the Dubai city government, including on intensified trade and economic relations, Islamic banks or others. The important thing is that it can be mutually beneficial,” he said.

The Vice President is scheduled to visit the Indonesian Sharia Bank (BSI) Office in Dubai on Friday (11/04). He will then leave for Cairo, Egypt, in the afternoon.

“The Vice President will pay a visit to BSI because it is Indonesia’s only Islamic bank with a branch in Dubai,” Masduki said.

The Vice President on Saturday (11/05) will leave the UAE for Cairo, Egypt. He will meet with students and Indonesian diaspora at the Ambassador’s Residence of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. On this occasion, the Vice President will attend the handover of 300 scholarships from the National Zakat Agency to representatives of Indonesian students studying in Egypt.

The Vice President will then visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization on Sunday (11/06) and travel to Sharm El Sheikh for COP 27 Climate Change Summit.

On Monday (11/07), the Vice President is slated to attend the opening of the COP 27 Summit and deliver a national statement on the High-Level Segment at COP 27 at the Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center.

According to Masduki, on Tuesday (11/08), the Vice President will return to attend the second day of the High-Level Segment.
