VP Ma’ruf Amin Tells BPJPH to Optimize Halal Product Certificates

The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) must be optimized to provide halal product certificates to ensure protection for people consuming halal products and to improve more added values in halal supply chain.

The statement was made by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin on Tuesday (06/14) at the Inauguration of the 2022 International Halal Congress at the Ballroom of Novotel Hotel and Convention Centre in Pangkalan Baru, Central Bangka regency, Bangka Belitung Islands province.

The Vice President added that the move is expected to boost the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products export, especially to member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

On that occasion, the Vice President also ordered the BPJPH to immediately realize the target in providing 10 million halal certificates for micro-sized enterprises so that they will be ready to enter the global halal market.

He added that the congress is a momentum to promote halal product certification system and to introduce the Indonesian halal logo to the world.

Furthermore, Ma’ruf Amin underscored that technology and innovation will also play an important role to develop halal products including researching on the level of halal product as well as in finding out substitution of halal products.

To that end, the Vice President emphasized the importance of the cooperation on strengthening research and innovation sectors. (BPMI of Vice President/UN)
