President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo admitted, young generation around the world demand latest technology and lifestyle. Get along with technology and develop lifestyle industry, according to the President, is an ensemble called modernization.

However, the President reminded, modernization must be undergone without forgetting religious and traditional values. “We shall not forget our values. Don’t let us losing our religious values, don’t ever be our cultural root taken, our existing traditional root,” President Jokowi stressed in his remark on the 2018 Indonesian Muslim Fashion Festival (Mufest), at Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Jakarta, on Thursday (!9/4) afternoon.

The President emphasized, creative industries including fashion industry play an important role.

According to the President, creative economy including fashion industry has a very bright future because we are now entering lifestyle era. “Why? Because now hundred million people in Asia, South America, Africa, the Middle East, not to mention Southeast Asia, in Indonesia alone are in the process of upgrading, joining what’s so called middle class, which is full of lifestyle,” the President explained.

The President evaluated, this creative economy is very suitable for Indonesian people. He conveyed, every time he travels around the world meeting people, people always said that Muslim fashion designed by Indonesian is very remarkable and liked by many people. “It just how we develop it so that Indonesia could be the world centre of Muslim fashion,” President Jokowi said.
