We’re Very Optimistic in Tackling COVID-19, President Jokowi Says
The Government is very optimistic in its extensive efforts in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in the country based on a number of indicators.
“Having seen various indicators, we are actually very optimistic about tackling COVID-19. If a slight increase persists, I will definitely give a strong warning because we don’t want this to continue to occur,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said in his directives, Tuesday (1/12).
On the occasion, the Head of State unveiled a number of indicators in tackling COVID-19. He said that as of the end of last month, the recovery rate in the country stood at 83.6 percent and this figure is far better than the global average recovery rate at 69.03 percent.
The number of active cases, the President continued, is currently 13.25 percent, which is much better than the global average number of active cases at 28.55 percent.
“This shows an improved trend. We must also work harder to improve the country’s death rate which stands at 3.1 percent, while the global death rate is at 2.32 percent,” he said. (FID/BPMI/UN) (MUR/EP)
