Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto stated that security apparatus, both the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) would continue to maintain the security during the trials on simultaneous election disputes at the Constitutional Court.

“The security apparatus is always vigilant in maintaining security and (prepared in handling) every possibility (during the trials). (We) have preventive measures, so that the citizens can feel assured. The apparatus will guard the capital city and areas considered as critical (points),” said the Coordinating Minister responding to reporters’ questions on the preparations for the election trial at the Constitutional Court, on Thursday (13/6).

On the occasion, Wiranto appreciated and respected statement made by Presidential Candidate Number 02, Prabowo Subianto, to invite his supporters to take positive actions by respecting the law, as well as maintaining peace and harmony.

“He (Prabowo) made an appeal to his supporters to refrain from going to the Court. He wishes that the legal process would go well without being disturbed by mass movements. This is a wonderful (statement) and we hope the supporters would listen to him. Therefore, after the complex elections, the political temperature would cool down, the security could be maintained, so it can stimulate national development,” he said.

Wiranto also considered that the current legal issues are very important to be solved immediately since there are many cases of alleged violations of the law at all levels, following the elections.

For the records, the Constitutional Court will hold a preliminary hearing on the dispute over the General Election Disputes (PHPU) on the Presidential Election, on Friday, 14 June 2019. In the meantime, legal hearing will be held on 17-21 June, while the verdict will be read out on 28 June 2019. (Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs PR/EN)
