President Prabowo Subianto underscored the importance of world countries’ active roles in maintaining global stability based on the principles of peace, justice, and mutual respect.

In his remarks at the 2025 World Governments Summit held online, the President said that the world today is facing tough challenges, including ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and East Congo, which require solutions based on dialog and justice.

“We are at a difficult moment in history. The international landscape is evolving rapidly, marked by instability and economic protectionism. If we do not act wisely, these changes may become uncontrollable,” said President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (02/13).

He emphasized that Indonesia always upholds three principles in global diplomacy. Indonesia firmly supports the two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict and urges real efforts to end the cycle of violence.

“The world cannot let the violence cycle continue. Crises in Ukraine, Gaza, East Congo, and other regions in Africa have reflected the decline in global stability at a broader level. Indonesia understands that rhetoric is not enough to navigate these challenges,” the President added.

In addition, he also expressed Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining balanced diplomacy with major countries, such as the United States and the People’s Republic of China. Indonesia is also strengthening global partnerships through the increased roles in international organizations, including BRICS, OECD, CPTPP, and the Indo-Pacific Forum.

“We are trying to listen as much as we speak, building partnerships based on trust and mutual respect,” he said.

With its vision of active diplomacy, Indonesia aims to continue its commitment to position itself as a bridge between the Global North and the Global South and contributing to the creation of a more peaceful and stable world order. However, he added, Indonesia must maintain its domestic stability and welfare in order to play an active role in global diplomacy.

“We must do our own homework in the country. Our influence and ability to contribute to global stability is intertwined with the strength, resilience, and economic progress as well as the welfare of our nation and people,” he remarked. (BPMI/ABD) (EST/MUR)
