President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on newly-inaugurated young officers of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to keep up and be prepared in a rapidly evolving military and defense sector.

“Persist in monitoring the ongoing technological developments. Be well-prepared for technology-related threats to ensure our duties are performed in a secure and efficient manner,” the President said during the inauguration of the officers graduated from TNI and Polri Academy, at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard, Jakarta, Wednesday (07/26).

According to the President, the young officers must be able to handle any challenges and changes amid a rapidly-growing world, technological disruption, and dynamic geopolitics.

“I order all officers to eagerly learn, develop skills, master knowledge and technology, as well as be innovative,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also said that the 833 young TNI-Polri officers will experience a journey of real service to the people, nation, and state.

“Your task will not be easy. All of you must maintain national security stability, uphold the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, continue the baton of national leadership, and face a very different situation,” he added.

In addition, the Head of State urged TNI and Polri officers to constantly improve synergy, communication, interaction, and cooperation to solve common problems.

“Prepare yourself as a role model for society, maintain integrity, uphold the ethics and values of warriors. Be at the forefront of helping the wider community,” he said, adding that the officers must also carry out their duties with full responsibility and uphold the constitution and regulations.

“Make your parents proud. Make the nation proud. The honor of the nation and state is now on all of your shoulders. Take care of it and make it fruitful,” the President remarked. (TGH/UN) (RIF/LW)
