President Jokowi: Indonesia-centric Development Drives National Progress and Competitiveness
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his gratitude for the achievements of Indonesia’s development over the past 10 years, which have succeeded in laying a new foundation for this nation. The President emphasized that the Indonesia-centric development that has been carried out so far has brought significant positive impacts to all Indonesian people.
This was emphasized by the President when delivering the state address at the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in the framework of the 79th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, at the Plenary Session Hall, Nusantara Building of MPR/DPR/DPD RI complex building, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (16/08/2024) morning.
“Alhamdulillah, during these 10 years we have been able to build a new foundation and civilization, with development that is Indonesia-centric, building from the periphery, building from villages, building from the outermost regions,” the President said.
In the achievement report, President Jokowi explained that the infrastructure development that has been carried out includes 366 thousand kilometers of village roads, 1.9 million meters of village bridges, 2,700 kilometers of new toll roads, 6,000 kilometers of national roads, 50 new ports and airports, as well as 43 dams and 1.1 million hectares of new irrigation networks. With the development, the President continued, logistics costs have been reduced from 24 percent to 14 percent in 2023, and Indonesia’s competitiveness ranking has increased from 44th to 27th in 2024.
