President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/13) reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening judicial institutions and law enforcement to protect the nation’s wealth and ensure people’s prosperity.

“Once we take control of our nation’s wealth, we will have abundant resources to improve every pillar of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said in his remarks at the handover of Rp10.27 trillion in administrative fines and 2.37 million hectares of recovered forest land, at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta.

The President said that these firm actions to protect the nation’s wealth are fundamental to achieving the prosperity for all Indonesians. According to him, public prosperity cannot be achieved unless the management of state wealth is directed for the greatest benefits of the nation.

“It is a matter of survival. As many as 287 million Indonesians will not live in prosperity if the nation’s wealth is taken away every day, every week, and every month,” he said.

On that occasion, he also appreciated the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force for successfully recovering state assets. However, he added that these achievements represent only a small part of the nation’s wealth potential that must be safeguarded.

“We have a long struggle ahead. There are still hundreds of trillions of rupiah, thousands of trillions of rupiah that we must recover. Many will question our ability to do it, but whether we can or cannot, we must do it,” he firmly said.

Therefore, the Head of State underscored that the country must present through firmer and more consistent law enforcement which will contribute to the nation resurgence and strengthening.

“We take firmer measures. As we have said before, we have no other choice but to ensure law enforcement. We must believe that the state is always present. Thus, the Republic of Indonesia will become stronger and continue to revive and flourish,” he said.

President Prabowo also highlighted the efforts to strengthen judicial sector as part of the government’s initiatives to build a justice system with integrity. He stated that improving judges’ welfare is a strategic step to ensure judicial independence, while also demonstrating respect for the role of the judiciary.

“I believe that corruption and injustice must be addressed through the judiciary. Therefore, our judges must be respected, carefully selected, and provided with adequate income so that they cannot be bribed,” he said.

He called on all members of the judiciary to uphold integrity and ensure genuine justice for the public. According to him, every court decision will always be judged by the people.

“We must ensure that the judiciary is a place where people can obtain justice. I entrust this message to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and all judges,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat)(RAS/AW)
