The Government plans to revitalize stadiums, arenas, and sports centers in the country, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo has said.

“The main focus of the meeting is the utilization of revitalization of stadiums and sports arenas across the country. We also discussed about the plan to re-organize leagues three and four for football,” Dito said after attending a limited internal meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (08/01).

According to the Minister, the Central Government has revitalized 22 stadiums with a capacity of more than 25,000 spectators since 2023.

“Currently, the stadiums are managed by the regional government and we are preparing a legal umbrella and the procedures so the private sector or football clubs can manage the stadiums,” he said.

The plans, Dito continued, will be done so that sports facilities can be utilized in the most advantageous manner so it can help the sports industry to grow.

“To boost the sports industry, we need to ensure the existing sports facilities and venues can be more alive, more dynamic and have flexible management so they can utilize (the stadium) fully; since the Government wants to grow the sports industry and coaching,” he remarked. (ECH/DNS) (GWH/LW)
