President Jokowi Attends Inauguration of House Members 2024-2029
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended and witnessed the inauguration of members of the DPR (House of Representatives), DPD (House of Regional Representatives), and MPR (People’s Consultative Assembly) for the 2024-2029 term. The inauguration ceremony was held in a plenary session taking place in the Plenary Room, Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, October 1, 2024.
The inauguration procession of members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI for the 2024-2029 term began with the reading of the stipulation of the temporary speakers of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI by each secretary general of the three institutions.
Secretary General of DPR RI Indra Iskandar read out the stipulation of the temporary speakers of DPR RI, represented by the oldest House member, Guntur Sasono, and the youngest member, Annisa Mahesa. Secretary General of DPD RI Rahman Hadi read out the stipulation of the temporary speakers of DPD RI, represented by the oldest member of DPD Ismeth Abdullah and the youngest Larasati Moriska. And the Secretary General of MPR RI Siti Fauziah read the stipulation of the temporary speakers of MPR RI represented by the oldest member of MPR, Guntur Sasono and the youngest, Larasati Moriska.
The oath-taking procession of members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI, led by each temporary speaker of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI. Prior to the oath-taking, each Secretary General of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI read an excerpt of Presidential Decree Number 115 / P Year 2024 dated September 30, 2024 concerning the Inauguration of the Appointment of Members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI for the 2024-2029 Term of Office.
The oath-taking of the 732 elected members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI was guided by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Muhammad Syarifuddin
“That I will fulfill my obligations as a member of the House of Representatives as well as possible and as fair as possible in accordance with the laws and regulations based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” Muhammad Syarifuddin dictated the oath of office.
“That in carrying out my obligations I will work earnestly for the upholding of democratic life and prioritize the interests of the nation and state over personal, individual, and group interests. That I will fight for the aspirations of the people I represent to realize national goals for the benefit of the nation and the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia,” continued the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
The inauguration procession of members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI was followed by the signing of the minutes of the oath by representatives of religious groups, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of RI, and members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR RI.
The inauguration ceremony ended with the reading of prayers guided by the Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Husni Ismail, and was closed by the temporary speaker of the MPR RI.
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were the 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President Boediono, the Ministers of Onward Indonesia Cabinet, and the guests from friendly countries. (ECH/ABD) (APN/LW)
