The Government has pledged to fast-track cross-ministerial collaboration and strengthen engagement with stakeholders to tackle the challenge of meeting national housing needs, according to President Prabowo Subianto.

“Our goals are still far from being achieved. Twenty-nine million of our people still do not have homes. So, Mr Ara, work hard, reach out to all Cabinet ministers and let us find a way. Where there is a will, there is a way. Our country is rich, but at times we must improve ourselves. We have not always been smart in managing our wealth. Now, we must manage it properly,” President Prabowo said at the Mass Mortgage Signing Ceremony for 50,030 recipients of the Housing Finance Facility (FLPP) at Pondok Banten Indah Housing Complex, Serang city, Banten province, on Saturday (12/20).

The President also emphasized that unity among all stakeholders of the nation are the main foundation for realizing a just and prosperous Indonesia. With its diversity of ethnicities, languages, religions, and backgrounds, unity is a strategic national strength in facing development challenges.

In the meantime, the President stated that Indonesia’s independence was the result of the struggle of all people. Farmers, fishermen, teachers, religious leaders, and common people played vital roles in sustaining the nation’s struggle from the very beginning.

The President further stated that Indonesia is a wealthy nation, but its resources must be managed in a better, more accountable, and responsible manner. To that end, law enforcement and clean Government are imperative.

“We must enforce laws and regulations. The state must be present, and the state must also be clean. The Government must be clean. The Government cannot allow its institutions to be corrupt. I am determined to clean up the apparatus, because they are the ones who provide services to the people. If those who provide services are not good and not honest, I believe the nation’s wealth will never reach the people,” the President stated.

Through the acceleration of public housing program and the strengthening of governance, President Prabowo reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensure that development outcomes truly reach all Indonesian people.
