President Prabowo Subianto participated in the morning mass prayer for Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Monday (03/31).
The President arrived at the prayer gathering with his son, Didit Hediprasetyo, at around 06.45 Western Indonesian time (WIB). Thousands of people also crowded the mosque to perform the Eid prayer, which was held promptly at 07.00 WIB.
Serving as the imam (leader) for the Eid prayer was Ust. H. Moh. Salim Ghazali, while K.H. Ahmad Tholabi served as the khatib who delivered the sermon, which carried the theme “Sustaining the Blessings of Fasting.”
In his sermon, the khatib underscored that the key message of Ramadan practices is that cohesion is not just a mere word, but something that must be actively and sincerely pursued.
“The togetherness experienced during Ramadan teaches us an important lesson that blessings arise from unity and solidarity; ‘Albarakah ma’a al-jama’ah’,” he said.
The khatib also urged all Muslims to maintain their purity by continuing to strive for goodness for all, adding that the blessings of fasting should not only shape individuals into pious beings but also extend to fostering righteousness within society, the nation, and the state.
“The hope to achieve ‘baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur’ [or] a prosperous and blessed nation must be pursued continuously, with consistency and earnest efforts, driven by the spirit of collective goodness,” he remarked.
After the Eid prayer was concluded, President Prabowo returned to the Jakarta Presidential Palace complex to gather with state officials and the communities.
Also attending the prayer at Istiqlal Mosque were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and his spouse Selvi Ananda, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, heads of state institutions, ambassadors of friendly countries, and ministers of the Red-and-White Cabinet.
