As part of the celebrations marking the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, a ceremonial procession carrying replicas of the Red and White Flag and the proclamation manuscript took place on Monday (08/17), proceeding from Jakarta’s Merdeka Palace to the National Monument (Monas) with great enthusiasm and pride.

The procession began with the handover of the Red and White Flag and the proclamation manuscript from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to the Alumni of the National Flag Hoisting Team (Purna Paskibraka) before they were paraded to Monas.

Nindya Eltsani Fawwaz of Jambi province received the replica Red and White Flag, while Bianca Alessia Christabella Lantang of North Sulawesi province carried the Proclamation manuscript.

The two national symbols were then transported to Monas aboard Garuda Prabayaksa ceremonial carriage, escorted by 45 military motorcycle personnel, 170 members of the Cendrawasih Police Academy Drum Corps, and 120 cavalry troops, adding to the grandeur of the procession.

The Nusantara royal guards also escorted the carriage. Dressed in traditional attire from provinces across Indonesia, they represented the nation’s rich cultural heritage, brought together in a single Independence Day celebration.

Thousands of people lined the route to watch the procession, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for the celebrations of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

Upon arriving in Monas, the replica flag and the Proclamation manuscript were returned to their original place in the Independence Room.

The procession marked the conclusion of the parade and the series of events commemorating the 81st Anniversary of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/EP)
