Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi highlighted that the 2025 shift of Indonesia–Egypt relations into a strategic partnership has unlocked wider avenues of cooperation for both countries.

“Following the Indonesian President’s visit in April 2025, when our two countries announced the elevation of their relations to a strategic partnership, new opportunities for cooperation have opened up, bringing greater benefits to our countries and the peoples,” President El-Sisi said during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday (10/11).

During the visit, President El-Sisi and President Prabowo Subianto discussed ways to further expand bilateral cooperation. President El-Sisi said both countries were placing particular emphasis on economic and business ties, taking into account the respective capabilities.

“We aim to increase bilateral trade to US$5 billion by 2030 and continue efforts to remove all existing barriers,” he said.

The two leaders also discussed downstream industrial projects involving companies from both countries.

“Egypt can serve as a gateway to Arab, African, and European markets,” President El-Sisi added.

On global geopolitical issues, President El-Sisi and President Prabowo had exchanged views on conflicts in various parts of the world. He noted that both countries agreed that conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

“We have also agreed to ensure that all conflicts are resolved through dialogue and diplomatic channels, with respect for national sovereignty and without interference in the internal affairs of other countries,” President El-Sisi said.

President El-Sisi also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he had received during the visit, including the reception by students, which he described as a gesture of respect toward him and Egypt.

“I am very pleased to meet with you today, and I would like to express my gratitude once again for this special invitation. We look forward to strengthening cooperation and further deepening relations between Indonesia and Egypt,” he concluded. (BPMI) (FI/AW)
