President Prabowo, Premier Li Qiang Witness 12 Strategic MoUs Signing

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang witnessed the signing of the 12 strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during an official visit at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Sunday (05/25). The moment reflected bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the PRC in various sectors, including industries, tourism, economy, and health.
The signing procession started after a bilateral meeting between the two heads of state in a respectful and friendly atmosphere. The signing was conducted directly by representatives of ministries, agencies, and strategic partners from both countries, witnessed by President Prabowo and Premier Li who stood side by side in the credential room of Merdeka Palace.
One of the key MoUs signed was between the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the PRC Ministry of Trade regarding Economic Cooperation in the industrial sector and supply chain. There was also a MoU trilateral signing between the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the PRC Ministry of Trade and the Provincial Government of Fujian regarding the Two Countries Twin Parks.
On the financial front, the Indonesian central bank, Bank Indonesia, and the People’s Bank of China agreed to establish a local currency transaction framework. Another strategic leap includes the cooperation between the National Economic Council of Indonesia and the National Reform of PRC regarding economic development.
Besides four MoUs signed directly before the two leaders, the other eight cooperation documents were signed separately and announced by MC. Some of them were a cooperation between the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and the PRC Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and an important protocol regarding frozen durian export from Indonesia to China signed by quarantine authorities from both countries.
The MoU in the health sector was also under the spotlight when they signed the two documents of cooperation between the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the PRC Health Agencies regarding traditional Chinese medicine and tuberculosis treatment.
The media sector was also tied to collaboration by signing two MoUs between state-owned ANTARA News Agency and the Media Group of China – Xinhua News Agency on news and information exchange.
The signing also included investment cooperation between Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara and China Investment Corporation, and, a strengthened relationship between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.
The momentum was concrete evidence of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and the PRC. President Prabowo and Premier Li Qiang welcomed the signing as a real action towards mutually beneficial cooperation and future-oriented.
The official visit of Premier Li Qiang to Indonesia was part of the intensive efforts of both countries to enhance cross-sector collaboration towards a new partnership era that is more productive, inclusive, and sustainable.
