Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of Lausimeme Dam at Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province, October 16, 2024

Distinguished, Minister of Transportation, General Director, Governor of North Sumatra province, Regent of Deli Serdang, President Director.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, and my dear children.

Good morning.

Lausimeme Dam is the 47th dam I have inaugurated in the past ten years. It was initiated in 2018, which means that it has been six years since then, and involved an investment of Rp1.76 trillion. A very huge investment.

This dam is expected to reduce flooding in Medan city, in Deli Serdang regency. It will also provide raw water for Medan and Deli Serdang, furthermore it will irrigate the rice fields near the reservoir.

This very large dam covers an inundation area of 125 hectares and has a capacity of 21 million cubic meters of water. Later, when the water has risen, we can see how big Lausimeme Dam is. We hope that the dam will bring benefits to North Sumatra province.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I hereby inaugurate Lausimeme Dam in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra province.
