Cabinet Secretary: Gov’t Launches Economic Stimulus Package to Boost Purchasing Power, Economic Growth

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya gives a press statement on the Government’s policy on the economic stimulus package, at a press conference, Tuesday (03/03).
The Government on Tuesday (03/03) officially launched an economic stimulus package to boost purchasing power and economic growth toward Eid ul-Fitr 1447 H. In his written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that this policy targeted the state apparatus, employees, and underprivileged communities.
An Eid ul-Fitr allowance worth 100% one-month income will be distributed to the personnel of the state apparatus, the Indonesian National Defense Forces, and the Indonesian National Police. The Government has allocated Rp55 trillion, a ten percent increase compared to last year, to be distributed to a total of 10.5 million beneficiaries.
“In total, as many as 2.4 million personnel of the state apparatus, the Indonesian National Defense Forces, and the Indonesian National Police will receive Rp22.2 trillion; 4.3 million personnel of regional apparatus will receive Rp20.2 trillion; and 3.8 million government retirees will receive Rp12.7 trillion,” he wrote.
“The allowance has been distributed gradually since February 26, 2026. And this is different from the 13th salary, which will be distributed in next June at the earliest,” he added.
The Government also underscored that the Eid ul-Fitr allowance for private employees must be fully paid and on time. The allowance must be paid in full, not in instalments, to as many as 26.5 million private employees in no later than 7 days before the Eid ul-Fitr.
“Companies that violate this policy will have to face an administrative sanction and pay a five percent fine. In total, as many as 26.5 million private employees who are registered as beneficiaries of workers social security insurance (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) will receive a total of Rp124 trillion,” he continued.
In addition, the Government and online application companies including GoTo, Grab, Maxim, and inDrive, are preparing Eid ul-Fitr bonuses for online drivers and couriers. Together, they are committed to allocating about Rp220 billion to be disbursed to about 850 thousand driver-partners of the companies.
“We urge the swift distribution of the bonuses, namely between 14 days and 7 days prior to the Eid ul-Fitr,” he wrote.
Furthermore, the Government is distributing 10 kg of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil to each of 35.04 million families, and also distributing public transport subsidies worth Rp911,16 billion in the form of public transport fare discounts to support the mudik (annual mass homecoming during the Eid ul-Fitr holiday) period.
“Work from Anywhere scheme is also applied for state apparatus and employees on 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27 of March, 2026, in efforts to ease public mobility,” he concluded.
The economic stimulus package is not merely fiscal policy but a strong commitment from the Government to ensure safe, joyful, blessed Eid ul-Fitr celebrations. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/TM)
