Starting the third day of his working visit in the new capital of Nusantara (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara regency, East Kalimantan province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (07/30) inspected Nusantara Hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the President directly checked various facilities, including the lobby, the dining area, and the bedrooms.

According to Assistant Director of Sales of Nusantara Hotel Hazel Yehezkiel Pauranan, the hotel, which has a capacity of 191 rooms, is not yet fully operational, adding that the hotel is scheduled to be officially opened on August 17, 2024.

“We have started operating partially since July 28, 2024 although not all rooms are ready for use,” he said.

Hazel also mentioned that the hotel construction has been completed since the groundbreaking ceremony led by President Jokowi on September 21, 2023 and there is only a furnishing work in progress at the hotel lobby.

“We’ve made progress with the furnishing in the lobby, while the Nusa Restaurant is already operational,” he said.

During an inspection of the construction progress of Nusantara Hotel on December 20, 2023, President Jokowi expressed optimism that the hotel would be completed and ready for use by August 2024. The President also said that the construction progress had reached 34 percent.

“Looking at the current state, it should be finished around before August (2024),” he said to the media after the inspection. (BPMI SETPRES/DNS) (APN/EP)
