Gov’t Committed to Enhancing Food Security

President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (11/26) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, held a limited cabinet meeting to address issues in the food sector, including fertilizer distribution, commodity balance, and institutional transformation of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog).

In a press statement after the meeting, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan revealed that important decisions, including improved distribution of fertilizer chain, had been made.

According to the Minister, the decision regarding the commodity balance will now also involve Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs after previously made only by Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

Zulkifli went on to say that the meeting also discussed the plan for the institutional transformation of the Bulog, citing President Prabowo’s instruction that the logistics institution must be more optimal in supporting food self-sufficiency, especially in purchasing grain and corn. In addition, the Government will formulate policies related to agricultural extension workers so that the management is more coordinated at the central level.
