President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo mentioned that the Indonesian Government has made an evaluation on the breach at the National Data Center (PDN) and emphasized that national data must be backed up.

“Yes, we have evaluated all,” he assured.

President Jokowi stressed that national data must be backed up to minimize the occurrence of the same incident.

“Most importantly, we must find the solution, so it will not happen again. Please back up our national data,” he said.

Previously, President Jokowi chaired a meeting with the related ministers to discuss the cyber-attack on Temporary PDN (PDNS) on Friday (06/28). Following the meeting, a ministerial meeting was held and chaired by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto.

In his press statement after the ministerial meeting, Hadi highlighted that data support must be provided by all ministries, institutions, and regional governments.

“It is mandatory, no longer optional. So, PDNS is running its operation, if there is a breakdown, we still have our data backed up in the Disaster Recovery Center or Cold Site located in Batam city, it has auto gate interactive service,” Hadi said in the press conference at the office of Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, on Monday (07/01).

That way, every ministry, institution, and regional government will have data support and provide services. It is a measure to keep public services run smoothly if such incident happens in the future.

The Government will prepare the management concerning the storing of the data and its backup at various levels according to data classification levels, starting from strategic data, limited data, to public data. “So, there will be public data, such as statistics and the rest will be stored at cloud, and the data stored in PDN will not be over capacity,” Hadi explained.
