President Prabowo Subianto outlines the general direction of Indonesia’s national development through a national transformation strategy, at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java province, Monday (02/02).

President Prabowo Subianto, Monday (02/02), outlined the general direction of Indonesia’s national development through a national transformation strategy. The strategy aims to position Indonesia as a modern, developed nation, with the main indicator being improvements in the quality of life for all Indonesian citizens.

“We are not dreaming of becoming a high-income country. We are not dreaming of living like people of Norway or Canada. We simply want all our people to live well and enjoy a good quality of life: they have good access to nutritious food, guaranteed healthcare, good education for their children, and they can earn sufficient income.” President Prabowo said at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor, West Java province.

The Head of State explained that the strategy will be implemented through the Asta Cita (eight missions), 17 priority programs, and a set of rapid, high-impact initiatives. He also added that food and energy self-sufficiency serves as the main pillar of national development.

“If I have to summarize it, our first foundation, whether we like it or not, is food self-sufficiency. There is no other alternative. If we want to be independent and prosperous, we must ensure food production so that all our people have good access to good food. Food self-sufficiency is a prerequisite and the main pillar of our strategy,” President Prabowo said.

As for the energy sector, President Prabowo stressed that energy independence is equally critical to ensuring sustainable development. The Government, he added, will continue to optimize national resources to reduce reliance on external parties.

“Energy self-sufficiency is a must. If anyone asks whether we are able to achieve it, our answer is certainly yes. We have made the calculations, and we possess extraordinary advantages,” the Head of State said.

“Only after achieving energy and food self-sufficiency can we change the flow of money that currently moves from villages to cities, to the capital, and overseas. We must stop and reverse this trend, among other measures, through the free nutritious meals program. Our children must be properly fed,” President Prabowo remarked.
