At Christmas Night, Cabinet Secretary and BP BUMN Head Unite Steps to Accelerate Post-Disaster Recovery

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received Head of State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria in a meeting held at Cabinet Secretariat Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/24). The meeting held at Christmas night discussed a number of measures to accelerate post-disaster recovery, especially support and role of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), in restoring the people’s life in the affected areas.

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, during the meeting, the discussion also covered updates on house units construction by BUMN. “In the first week, at least 500 of 15,000 house units targeted to be built by BUMN in this December can be completed, along with house units construction by National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Ministry of Public Works,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy in his written statement on Thursday (12/25).

In addition, the discussion also includes the preparedness of telecommunication infrastructure. BUMN’s Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is expected to be functioning optimally in order to support people’s activities in the affected areas.

Furthermore, sustainable supports of BUMN were also discussed during the meeting. “Sustainable supports are provided by BUMN, such as tens of heavy equipments, clean water tanks, and thousands of workers, especially for restoring and cleaning activities in Aceh Tamiang regency,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy said.

Other strategic agenda discussed at the meeting was accelerating financial service recovery, by targeting to activate regional banking operation immediately. Cabinet Secretary Teddy firmly stated that all government elements are moving swiftly and cooperate with the people to recover from post-disaster condition.

“All government elements are working expeditiously, so the people can be back to their normal activities. All actions are conducted together with the peole who are continuously working hand-in-hand with the officers to recover from this situation,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy remarked.
