President Prabowo, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Discuss Strengthening Strategic Cooperation

President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and their respective delegations at Istana Nurul Iman, Brunei Darussalam, on Wednesday (05/14).

The meeting unfolded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the strong commitment of the two countries to enhancing bilateral cooperation that has spanned over four decades.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the invitation and warm welcome extended by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The President also highlighted the importance of the close ties between Indonesia and Brunei over the past 41 years.

“Thank you, Your Majesty, for the state visit invitation extended to me. I am deeply grateful for the gracious, warm, and friendly welcome from Your Majesty,” the President said.

President Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for the conferring of Brunei Darussalam’s state honor, the “Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati” (The Most Esteemed Family Order of Laila Utama), which he directly received from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

“I embrace this as a symbol of our friendship, a symbol of the strong relationship between the Republic of Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam,” the President said.

President Prabowo also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various strategic sectors, including protecting Indonesian citizens residing in Brunei Darussalam. “We are determined to maintain and bolster this strong relationship in all areas,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah congratulated President Prabowo for his inauguration as President of the Republic of Indonesia. He expressed belief that Indonesia would continue to prosper under President Prabowo’s leadership.

“I am confident that under your esteemed leadership, the Republic of Indonesia will continue to enjoy long-term stability and prosperity,” Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said.

The Sultan also underscored the close cooperation between both countries and expressed belief that it will continue to grow stronger. “This will enhance mutual understanding and friendship between our countries in the coming years,” he said.

This bilateral meeting marked a significant milestone in bolstering the Indonesia–Brunei partnership and opened new windows of opportunity across various sectors.
