Cabinet Secretary: Additional Logistical Aid Delivered to Disaster Victims in East Nusa Tenggara Province

The Government has once again delivered logistical aid to earthquake-affected areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province on Sunday (08/16). In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya noted that an additional 25 tons of logistical assistance arrived at several affected locations on the second day following the disaster.
“On the second day of disaster response, an additional 25 tons of logistics have arrived. With this, a total of 52 tons of logistics have been delivered to assist the affected communities,” the Cabinet Secretary wrote.
The Cabinet Secretary further explained that the logistical aid sent to affected communities in NTT included ready-to-eat meals, drinking water, basic food supplies, medicines, medical equipment, tents, and clean water. This aid was then distributed directly across all affected areas.
“All aid was subsequently dispatched via land routes, aircraft, and helicopters to several affected areas, including Labuan Bajo, Maumere, Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Manggarai, Sikka, Ende, and Nagekeo [regencies],” he stated.
Furthermore, the Cabinet Secretary mentioned that since the day of the disaster, relevant officials have been deployed to various affected locations to directly lead post-disaster responses efforts. According to him, this prompt Government response demonstrated [state’s] commitment to ensuring that the needs of affected communities are met and that assistance reaches disaster sites immediately.
“The Government continues to [work hard] to ensure the needs of affected communities are met and that aid arrives at all locations [immediately],” he concluded.
This swift action forms part of the Government’s commitment to ensuring the state’s presence from the emergency response phase through the recovery process, while guaranteeing that affected communities receive protection and essential basic needs. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (NST/AW)
