President Prabowo Bolsters Support for Indonesian National Team Ahead of Match against Saudi Arabia

President Prabowo Subianto extended his direct support to players of the Indonesian national football team through a video call on Wednesday (08/10). The heartfelt moment took place just hours before the Garuda Squad fought against their Saudi Arabian counterpart in the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers, held at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.

In a video uploaded by the official social media account of the Cabinet Secretariat, President Prabowo was seen greeting Indonesia’s Head Coach Patrick Kluivert and the players gathering in a room.

“Hello,” said President Prabowo as he opened the conversation.

“How are you, Mr. President?” asked Patrick Kluivert.

“I’m good, thank you very much,” replied the President with a smile.

President Prabowo then asked about the team’s readiness for the important match that evening.

“Are you ready for tonight’s big game?” he asked.

“We’re ready, all of us are ready,” answered Kluivert and the players in unison.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo delivered his prayers and full encouragement to the Garuda Squad in the hope that they would perform at their best and deliver a positive result for Indonesia.

“Thank you all, I am praying for your success. Do your best and bring good news to us tonight. Good luck!!!” said the President.

The message was met with applause and enthusiastic cheers from the national players, who appeared excited to receive direct encouragement from the Head of State. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir was also present with the team during the call.

Through this gesture, President Prabowo reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting the advancement of national sports, particularly football, which holds a special place in the hearts of the Indonesian people.
