President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Monday (08/12), led the groundbreaking ceremony for Swiss-Belhotel Nusantara construction in Nusantara Capital, North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

In his remarks, the President expressed appreciation for the hotel’s design, which has been adjusted to fit the forest city concept adopted by Nusantara Capital.

“I noticed that the design of Swiss-Belhotel Nusantara is excellent, adjusted to Nusantara Capital’s concept, namely forest city,” he said.

Swiss-Belhotel Nusantara is planned to have 197 rooms and be completed in 15 months. The President underscored that the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) and the Government would immediately prepare supporting infrastructure, such as road access, electricity, and water, to ensure seamless hotel operations.

“We hope infrastructure facilities will shortly be prepared by the OIKN and the Government, including the road access to Swiss-Belhotel, electricity, and water. Thus, everything will be completed by the time the hotel construction finishes,” he said.

The President also stated that Nusantara will be a smart and liveable city where technology supports all activities and creates a comfortable environment to inhabit, adding that the economy in the new capital will be developed with green and digital economic approaches.

The President also pointed out that the energy used will be environmentally sound and vehicles operating there will be electric, including the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART).

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby declare the groundbreaking of Swiss-Belhotel Nusantara in East Kalimantan province begin,” he remarked. (FID/DNS) (DH/MMB)
