President Prabowo Subianto Receives Gontor Qur’an Manuscript and “Gontor for Indonesia” Book at PMDG Centennial

President Prabowo Subianto Saturday (09/11) received the Gontor Qur’an Manuscript and the book “Gontor for Indonesia” from leaders of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School (PMDG) during the school’s centennial celebration reception in Ponorogo Regency, East Java Province.

The Gontor Qur’an Manuscript was presented directly by PMDG Leader K.H. Akrim Mariyat to the President. Meanwhile, the book “Gontor for Indonesia” was presented by K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal as a documentation of the journey, role, and contributions of Gontor alumni to the development of and service to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

In his remarks, K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal said that the book was Gontor’s tribute, documenting the contributions of its alumni across various fields of service to the nation and state.

“Given the limited time, we cannot mention all the contributions of our alumni in serving the nation. Therefore, we can only present this book, “Gontor for Indonesia”. as a gift, while also officially launching the Gontor Qur’an Manuscript,” K.H. Hasan Abdullah Sahal said.

K.H. Hasan also explained that the Gontor Qur’an Manuscript was produced through the direct involvement of Gontor students and teachers, from the writing process through its publication and printing.

“It was printed by Gontor students, published by the Gontor Printing House, distributed to Gontor students, and presented as a gift to the President and the Muslim community,” K.H. Hasan added.

The Gontor Qur’an Manuscript is a distinctive work handwritten by Gontor teachers and students, known as Gontor khattath (calligraphers). The manuscript was independently published and printed by the Gontor Printing House after completing an official tashih (verification and validation) process.

Meanwhile, the book “Gontor for Indonesia” documents the history, role, and contributions of Islamic boarding school alumni in various fields of service and in the development of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
