President Prabowo Stresses Importance of Maintaining Unity, Harmony in Democracy

Maintaining unity, harmony, and maturity in democracy is imperative, President Prabowo Subianto has said.
The President made the statement in his remarks at the Final Event of the Democrat Party’s 25th Anniversary, held at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Wednesday (09/09).
According to the Head of State, a great nation committed to democracy should be receptive to criticism and different viewpoints, as long as they remain grounded in harmony and the public interest.
“Indeed, a great nation that has chosen the path of democracy must be grateful for criticism and corrections,” he said.
The President further emphasized that Indonesia’s democracy has demonstrated its maturity, as competition and varying opinions coexist with friendship, kinship, and harmony.
“There is a diversity of views and competition. We give criticism, suggestions, and recommendations. We voice things that might be unpleasant to say, yet we remain in harmony, remain friends, remain like family. This is what we must uphold,” he said.
The President also underscored that Indonesia faces complex challenges, noting that public services must reach hundreds of thousands of schools, including remote mountain regions and islands.
“Our problems are significant, our challenges are immense, and we exist in an environment fraught with challenges. However, alhamdulillah, in her 81st year, our nation remains steadfast and united. We are steadfast and united in diversity, and we will grow stronger to face the future,” he said.
Moreover, President Prabowo mentioned that experts and international institutions predict Indonesia will become the world’s fourth-largest economy in 2050, emphasizing the need to start seizing this opportunity now.
We have 24 years before 2050, which is the era of the youth. The generation of Pak SBY and I serves as the stepping stones for the younger generation to rise and take responsibility to continue the growth of our nation,” he said.
The President also urged all components of the nation to continue maintaining unity, strengthening democracy, and working together to face development challenges, while expressing optimism that Indonesia has the resources to keep moving forward. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
