President Prabowo Confers the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna upon PM Narendra Modi

President Prabowo Subianto conferred the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna (Adipurna Star of the Republic of Indonesia) honorary medal upon the Prime Minister (PM) of the Republic of India Narendra Modi on Tuesday (07/07). The conferment serves as a form of respect and appreciation from the Indonesian nation for PM Modi’s contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and India.

“Today, as President of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my gratitude to His Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accepting the highest state honorary medal of the Republic of Indonesia, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna,” the President stated during a joint press statement with PM Modi.

The President directly pinned the medal of honor on PM Modi during the state visit at Merdeka Palace. According to the President, the award was given as a tribute to PM Modi’s leadership and significant contribution to advancing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“We are grateful to Prime Minister Modi for accepting this honor. It is bestowed in recognition of his leadership and his contribution to strengthening Indonesia-India relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” the President remarked.

The President also acknowledged PM Modi’s role in supporting Indonesia’s development through various growing cooperation between the two countries. “It is also in recognition of his continuous efforts to enhance cooperative relations between Indonesia and India, as well as his support for various programs and projects that contribute to Indonesia’s development,” he added.

On the same occasion, PM Modi conveyed his appreciation and respect for the medal of honor he received. According to him, the prestigious award reflected the longstanding friendship between Indonesia and India.

“This morning, with great affection, respect, and honor, I was conferred the highest honor of Indonesia. [I accept this honor on behalf of] the people of India. It reflects the goodwill between our two nations and symbolizes the close and historic ties between Indonesia and India. I extend my deepest gratitude to President Prabowo, the Government of Indonesia, and the Indonesian people,” PM Modi stated.

President Prabowo also noted that the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna had previously been awarded to the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, as a form of appreciation for his role at the time in strengthening relations between Indonesia and India.

“Prior to this, the same medal of honor was also awarded to the first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, in recognition of his great contribution to strengthening Indonesia-India relations, and his role as one of the pioneers and initiators of the Non-Aligned Movement,” he concluded.

The conferment of the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna on PM Narendra Modi marks another milestone in the history of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India, while simultaneously reflecting both countries’ shared commitment to further strengthening their strategic partnership for the benefits of both nations, the region, and the world.
