President Prabowo Subianto underscored the importance of the ASEAN–US strategic partnership in promoting a peaceful, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific Region at the ASEAN–US Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia, on Sunday (10/26).

“The United States has long been, and must continue to be, a partner for progress and peace in the Indo-Pacific. As a partner for progress, the US role has contributed to building a stronger and more connected ASEAN,” he said.

President Prabowo also pointed out that the partnership with the United States has helped strengthen ASEAN’s integration and competitiveness. He added that ASEAN’s success in the economic sector is clear evidence of growth driven by openness.

“With a strong US partnership, ASEAN has become the fifth largest economy in the world, creating jobs for more than 625,000 American workers through annual exports worth US$122 billion,” the President said.

In a dynamic geopolitical context, President Prabowo highlighted the importance of embracing an open, predictable, and inclusive Indo-Pacific for all nations. He also underscored the international community’s moral responsibility in dealing with the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

“Indonesia values the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and your leadership, Mr. President, in advancing a credible roadmap to lasting peace. Our task now is to implement it, turning words into real action,” he said.

President Prabowo also reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to supporting relief and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, including participation in a multinational stabilization mission. Furthermore, he added, Indonesia stands ready to deploy peacekeeping forces to areas in need of protection and enforcement.

“Let us choose to be on the right side of history. Let ASEAN and the US be partners for peace, building lasting peace, fostering constructive cooperation, and strengthening partnerships that deliver tangible benefits for our people and the world,” he concluded.
