President Prabowo Subianto has extended his deepest condolences on the passing of Pope Francis.

In an official statement, President Prabowo remembered Pope Francis as a global figure who wholeheartedly championed the values of peace, humanity, and brotherhood.

“With deep sorrow, I have received the news of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. The world has lost a moral compass—someone who devoted his life to peace, compassion, and unity,” the President said in a statement broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday, April 21, 2025.

President Prabowo also recalled the memorable moment when the Pope visited Jakarta in 2024, stating that the visit left a profound impression not only on the Catholic community but on the hearts of all Indonesians.

“His Holiness Pope Francis’ visit to Jakarta last year left a lasting impression—not only among the Catholic community, but also in the hearts of the entire Indonesian people,” he said.

President Prabowo went on to commend the values that Pope Francis consistently championed during his leadership, including humility, solidarity with the poor, and his concern for interfaith and global brotherhood.

“His message of humility, pluralism, compassion for the poor, and his unwavering care for others will remain an inspiration to us all,” President Prabowo added.

Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo paid final respects to the leader of the Catholic Church.
