President Prabowo Subianto together with French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron visited the Borobudur Temple at Magelang regency, Central Java province, Thursday (05/29).

“It is a great honor for us to welcome Your Excellency to this historic site—a masterpiece of human civilization that has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, rich in history and spiritual significance,” President Prabowo said during the visit.

The Head of State underscored that Indonesia, as a nation that upholds the values of Pancasila, greatly promotes tolerance and respect for all religions and beliefs. The visit, he added, reflected the deep friendship and shared humanitarian values between Indonesia and France.

“Indonesia and France are two great nations with long history, deep-rooted cultures, and ancient civilizations. We share the same spirit and values—humanity, tolerance, respect for cultural heritage, and respect for all religions, beliefs, races, and ethnicities,” President Prabowo stated.

“We aspire to build a harmonious and peaceful world. We believe that only through friendship, solidarity, and collaboration can we create a better life for all,” he added.

President Prabowo concluded his remarks by expressing optimism about the future of Indonesia–France relations, especially in cultural exchanges and cooperation.

“I believe and am optimistic that our partnership will continue to flourish and serve as a bridge for artists, cultural figures, creative industry professionals, and community leaders from both countries,” the President said.

The visit to Borobudur Temple was a key part of President Macron’s state visit to Indonesia and highlighted both nations’ commitment to preserving global cultural heritage while deepening cooperation in various fields. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/MMB)
