President Prabowo Subianto Arrives in New Delhi for BRICS Summit, Meets Indonesian Students
President Prabowo Subianto Friday (09/11) arrived in New Delhi, India, for a working visit.
Upon arrival at the hotel where he would stay during the visit, the President was welcomed by a number of ministers who had arrived earlier, Indonesian Embassy officials, and members of the Indonesian students and diaspora communities.
For the record, the President is slated to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on 12-13 September 2026.
The President received a warm welcome from two Indonesian children wearing traditional attires. They greeted him and presented him with a bouquet of flowers.
On that occasion, the President also spoke with Indonesian students in India.
Hilyatu Zahra, who is pursuing a doctoral degree in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, said it was her first time meeting the President.
The President also expressed his appreciation and encouraged her to work hard in pursuing her degree.
In response, Hilyatu expressed belief that the President’s participation in the 18th BRICS Summit would strengthen Indonesia’s bilateral relations, particularly by opening opportunities for cooperation with other countries.
“I hope that in the near future Indonesia will establish good relations with all member countries, not only through dialog, but through concrete implementation that strengthens Indonesia’s position,” she said.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Aiko, a student at Aligarh Muslim University who has been studying in India for three years. She said that meeting the President was an honor as an Indonesian.
Another student at Delhi University, Jeremia Himawan, said that the President’s visit reflected Indonesia’s close relations with India.
“I am honored and delighted for the President’s visit, as it reflected the close ties between India and Indonesia,” he said, while expressing hope that relations between the two countries would be further strengthened under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership.(BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MEP)
