President Prabowo Meets President of FIFA, Affirms Collaboration Commitment for Indonesian Football

President Prabowo Subianto received a courtesy call from President of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Gianni Infantino, in New York, United States of America, on Wednesday (09/24). President of FIFA was welcomed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya before they both headed to the meeting room.

The meeting became a strategic momentum to discuss the rapid improvement of Indonesian football, and also to strengthen cooperation commitment between Indonesia and FIFA. In his statement, President Gianni expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo who fully support the football world.

“I feel honored and very pleased to meet President of Indonesia. He is a major friend of football, a leader who keeps his words. Also, what he has done and is doing at the moment for football in a great football country like Indonesia is very unique,” he stated.

President of FIFA mentioned that the Indonesian Government has made a huge leap in developing its national football for men’s, women’s, junior’s, and senior’s categories, it is impressive. In his opinion, the sport has touched the hearts and emotions of Indonesian people in the last few years.

“On the global stage, this country has made such a huge progress in a very short time. Thanks to the people, thanks to the President, thanks to the investment, thanks to the spirit shown by the Indonesian people,” he observed.

Therefore, President Gianni firmly stated that FIFA will continue to support Indonesia, among others, by establishing its regional office in Jakarta. In addition, FIFA expressed hope that it can enhance collaboration with Indonesia as an important partner in developing global football.

“We hope to enhance this fantastic collaboration for Indonesia, ASEAN, Asia, and the world. We unite. This was also the subject that I discussed with the President.
