President Prabowo Subianto Highlights Food Self- Sufficiency Social Programs and Industrialization Achievements at Parliamentary Plenary

 President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/20) outlined national economic achievements in his remarks at the Parliament Plenary Session at the Nusantara Building of the Indonesian Parliament Complex (MPR/DPR/DPD RI) in Jakarta.

On that occasion, the President highlighted the Government’s success in maintaining food security, expanding social programs, and accelerating national industrialization.

The President also underscored that Government has made food self-sufficiency a top national priority to safeguard domestic food stability and availability.

The Government, he added, has also achieved significant milestones in boosting food production and strengthening national rice reserves throughout 2026.

“Our production has reached highest level in the history of the Republic of Indonesia. The [existing] reserves in our warehouses [are full], so the Government has had to rent additional storage facilities. We now hold more than 5.3 million tons of rice reserves. In December 2025, our rice reserves stood at 3.25 million tons, and as of May 10, they have increased to 5.3 million tons,” the President stated.

The Head of State also noted that the Government has successfully strengthened national fertilizer production while at the same time reducing fertilizer prices for farmers. This policy is deemed crucial to maintaining agricultural productivity and supporting farmers’ welfare across various regions.

“For the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, we have reduced fertilizer prices by 20 percent. Our farmers can now enjoy an adequate supply of fertilizer. What we must focus on now is ensuring that subsidized fertilizer is not misused or smuggled elsewhere. We must work together to safeguard this,” the President explained.

The President further emphasized that the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) has reached tens of millions of beneficiaries across Indonesia. Nevertheless, the Government continues to rigorously evaluate and monitor its implementation on the ground.

“Free nutritious meals are now enjoyed daily by 62.4 million beneficiaries. This figure includes 6.3 million toddlers, 2 million nursing mothers, and 868 thousand pregnant, who women who receive [Special MBG for the ‘3B’ category] every day,” said the President.

In ​​investment and state asset management, President Prabowo Subianto also highlighted the establishment of the Danantara Indonesia Sovereign Wealth Fund in 2025, which serves as a vital instrument to support development financing and accelerate national industrialization.

“We continue to identify high-value state-owned land, assets, and buildings. Danantara has proven effective in accelerating development financing, particularly by providing investment and working capital to speed up industrialization,” the President stated.

The Head of State also underscored the importance of industrialization and natural resource downstreaming to reinforce national economic self-reliance, adding that the Government remains committed to promoting domestic processing of natural resources to generate added value and create new jobs.

“We must build our own cars. We must build our own motorcycles. We must manufacture our own televisions, computers, and mobile phones. We must not merely serve as a market for other nations,” the President said.

Additionally, the President stated that various Government initiatives have generated millions of new jobs across sectors. Investments realization and village-based economic programs are considered to have had a direct impact on national labor absorption.

“I have received reports from Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry that 2.7 million new jobs have been created as a result of domestic and international investment realized by 2025. Each Red-and-White Village and Sub-district Cooperative will also generate new formal employment opportunities in rural areas,” the President said.

Furthermore, President Prabowo Subianto also called on all elements of the nation to have confidence in Indonesia’s own capabilities and to uphold the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) in driving economic development. The President also underscored that Indonesia must stand firmly on its own strengths  and national character.

“We must be confident; we must believe in our own strength, our own personality, our own culture, and philosophy of our ancestors.
