The Government continues its streamlining program for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), focusing on asset optimization, increased productivity, and company efficiency. During a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (10/5), Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani, said this program continuity was one of the topics discussed.

“We discussed about improving our current streamlining program at SOEs. We talked about our next steps in early 2027. Currently, we are working on optimizing SOE assets, increasing productivity and efficiency, as well as expanding collaboration with the private sector,” said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

“So, we are arranging to begin consolidating the ongoing programs. Perhaps, the next step will be how to optimize these assets,” he added.

He said asset optimization is a priority because the amount of SOE assets is not yet fully proportional to the revenue generated. President Prabowo ordered for these assets to be managed more productively through sound, measurable, and structured planning.

“We may have substantial assets, but the cashflow remains relatively modest in proportion to the assets we own. So, the President ordered us to optimize the assets of these SOEs, with sound, measurable, and structured planning because we are a sovereign wealth fund that provides profits and good yields,” he said.

The Government, Rosan added, will then conduct a comprehensive analysis of various SOE assets that have the potential for optimization. In its implementation, Rosan said that the Government is also opening up opportunities for collaboration with the private sector.

“If, for example, the private sector can do better, and it is not considered strategic, we will give opportunities for the private sector to develop its businesses,” he said.

This measure serves as the Government’s efforts to ensure that the restructuring of SOEs continues, leading to more productive and efficient asset management, capable of delivering more optimal results. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/AW)
