Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended the second MIKTA Leaders’ Gathering, held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mexico, serving as the Chair of MIKTA for 2024, hosted the event.

Mexico, as the 2024 MIKTA Chair, organized the meeting in a designated room at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio De Janeiro. The Leaders’ Gathering unfolded in an informal atmosphere, beginning with a brief greeting session among the MIKTA leaders from Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.

Following this, participants took part in a group photo session, highlighting the camaraderie and solidarity among the member nations. This group photo represented a significant moment, as it was the second assembly of MIKTA leaders during a G20 Summit.

The first gathering occurred at the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022, followed by the inaugural Leaders’ Gathering under Indonesia’s chairmanship in New Delhi in 2023. The MIKTA meeting at the G20 in Brazil reaffirmed the forum’s role as a platform for collaboration to address global challenges in an inclusive and responsive manner.

The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening relations among member countries to tackle these issues effectively. Attendees included Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
